The National Council of Catholic Women is a national federation of Councils of Catholic Women founded by the bishops of the United States in 1920. Through our affiliation with NCCW, CCW members are also affiliated with the World Union of Catholic Women's Organization, which has been granted special recognition as a lay women's organization by the Vatican, and have Non-Governmental Organizational representative to the United Nations. 
Joliet Diocesan Council of Catholic Women
The Joliet Diocesan CCW is one of the six arch/diocesan CCWs which comprise the Province of Chicago (named after the archdiocese within the state). To serve the women of the diocese, it offers periodic spiritual, educational and informational programs on issues of concern to Catholic women including a biennial 2-day convention of liturgies and seminars, provides an annual forum for diocesan-wide recognition of outstanding parish CCW Women at its Woman of the Year Mass and celebration and is a resource and inter-mediary between the Parish CCW and the National CCW.
